They lived in Istanbul, worked in Istanbul and produced for Istanbul...

Carried out by the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency's Visual Arts Directorate, The Project "Lives and Works in Istanbul" hosted six prominent artists from the European contemporary arts domain since August 2008 and had them produce for Istanbul.

Those six artists lived for weeks in Istanbul in different times and held workshops where participating young Turkish artists got the chance to produce art works. Now these art works are registered as permanent contribution to the Turkish contemporary art to remain beyond 2010.

Outcomes of the project will be exhibited at Sanat Liman? in October. Within the scope of Project "Lives and Works in Istanbul"; Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency invited and hosted world-famous artists from EU countries that have accomplished great projects in visual arts and contributed to universal arts. These artists were provided with opportunities for living, working and producing in Istanbul; and they were ensured to conduct workshops, thought meetings and production together with creative individuals, academicians and local artists of the young generation.

Remo Salvadori (Italy), Sophie Calle (Francea), Victor Burgin (UK), Peter Kogler (Austria), Danae Stratou (Greece), Antoni Muntadas (Spain-USA) came to Istanbul for taking part in the project "Lives and Works in Istanbul" and held workshops with young Turkish artists who enjoyed the chance to produce art works during those workshops.
